Rob prefers to saw the bulk of the waste vs chopping.  With narrow pins sawing is definitely your best choice.  The saw needs to be tensioned properly to prevent bowing during use.  In addition to the frame adjustment, these saws have a wing nut at the top to really cinch the blade.  To improve control we now tape the handle like a hockey stick.  This has made a big difference for first time dovetailers.  12 blades included.
