Do you find that using your plane's adjusting knob is a bit difficult? Well we did and decided to fix that by creating our Plane AdjuSTAR 2.0 adjusting knob to replace the original adjusting knob on most WoodRiver & Luban bench planes.

Our Plane AdjuSTAR 2.0 is larger and much easier to use than the original adjusting knob allowing you to make adjustments to your blade depth setting easily.  Our design makes it easier for you to reach and turn the adjuster with your fingers and easier for you to reach the frog adjustment screw with a screwdriver. We know you will love our Plane AdjuSTAR 2.0.

WoodRiver AdjuSTAR 2.0 fitted to my Clifton 5-1/2

I own two WoodRiver bench planes, the #6 and #7, along with a number of vintage Stanley and Lie Nielsen bench planes. The WoodRiver are fine planes, especially after I tune them, de-burring/smoothing the edges, seating the tote and knob, lapping the soles, checking sides for square, smoothing the frog bed and match lapping the frog to the bed. I also add the Rob Cosman AdjuSTAR 2.0 to these planes which have a M7x1.0 LH thread pitch (25.4 tpi). These AdjuSTARs are great products and improve and Stanley style Bench plane by aiding in on the fly cutter depth adjustment using a pentastar paddle configuration that was first seen on the Stanley 72. This pentastar adjuster provides greater torque to turn the depth adjuster with just one finger while planning. This particular review is of a WoodRiver AdjuSTAR 2.0 which I bought to modify so that it will work on my Clifton 5-1/2 bench plane. Clifton uses a 9/32”-26 tpi BSF (British Standard Fine) LH thread pitch on the depth adjustment stud and adjustment knob. The Stanley’s and Lie Nielsen bench planes use the 9/32”-24 tpi UNF LH thread pitch on their depth adjusters. The WoodRiver AdjuSTAR version is very close to the stock Clifton adjuster, it’s slightly smaller in diameter and close to the same thread pitch 25.4 to 26 tpi. So I over-tapped this Woodriver AdjuSTAR with the 9/32-26 BSF left hand tap that I bought. It worked and fit perfectly on my Clifton 5-1/2. It did require that I replace the the stock Clifton depth adjustment yoke with a Reed Planes File to Fit yoke. I needed to do this to change the yoke geometry slightly so that the AdjuSTAR 2.0’s large OA diameter would not hit the top backside of the frog. With the AdjusSTAR 2.0 in my Clifton 5-1/2 it made a big improvement and the plane now functions and performs better than it did new. Thanks Rob Cosman and crew!

I have Cosman-ized ALL of my planes

I've added the AdjuSTAR and hex sockets replacement screws to all five of my planes. That's the catch with these. Once you've upgraded your No. 5-1/2, you won't be able to sleep until you've upgraded your No. 4, 5, 6 and 7 🤣

Equally as amazing as the shooting grip, probably better actually, but amazing no matter what!

Money Well Spent.

The Cosman AdjuStar 2.0 is a smart product that works as advertised. I can adjust my plane as I am working and refine my planing depth on the fly. It is made well, it does its job and I am glad I purchased it.

This is awesome. It makes adjusting the blade so much easier while planing or shooting wood. 10 out of 10 recommend!
