Designed specifically to cut dry, furniture-grade, soft and hardwoods, our hand saws are made from hefty .035 inch thick, durable SK85 spring steel that has a Rockwell hardness between 50-55The thick saw plate makes our hand saws quite stiff which provides for easy and kink-free sawing and the steel retains its edge longer than other varieties, but still easily hand sharpened.

The teeth are cut using a CNC diamond saw. The rip saw is filed rip cut at 7 teeth per inch (TPI).  The crosscut saw is filed crosscut at 9 teeth per inch.  Each saw has a minimal .003 inch set per side. This makes for a highly consistent and sharp tooth lines that slices cleanly and precisely across the grain (crosscut) and with the grain (rip) while the minimal set keeps the saw laser straight in the cut.

Our closed handle design hearkens back to the Disston D-7 saws of yesteryear, but with our own unique modifications. Our handles have memory enhancing carved finger recesses for a perfect and repeatable fit.  Four brass split nuts and bolts secure the handle to the blade at a hang angle of 16 degrees which keeps your wrist aligned with your forearm for better and more comfortable body mechanics while sawing.  We make our handles from Richlite incredibly durable, sustainable, and versatile material made from High-grade FSC-certified paper infused with a thermosetting resin.

Saw set

Bought these saws as a set. Tried them out as soon as I got them. As rob said about them, they cut very clean and cut very fast. They are the finest saws I have. I don’t mind paying a higher price for quality like this. Money well spent and I love them. Highly recommend them.

Best saw I’ve ever used!

I can’t recommend these saws enough. Not only are they the best I’ve used and they are made locally by great people.

Exceeds expectations

Attended the intermediate drawer course and had the opportunity to test drive both the cross-cut and rip saw. They were such an enjoyable experience that I bought the set. There is nothing worse than a tool that doesn’t perform, and these cleanly tear through for quick and quiet dimensioning. In the time it takes to set up my table saw or miter saw I can slice through material and the only mess is on the floor in the immediate area. I don’t need air filtration, charged batteries, or the hassle of power cables. Just grab the saw and cut. It’s so aggressive and clean, and the kerf is so small that waste is reduced and time is saved in not having to clean up overly frayed edges. These will be heirloom tools that I will enjoy as long as I live, and my son will be taught to use and care for them as well. Thanks to Cosman Woodworking and their dedication to quality in a world where mediocrity is too often accepted as the norm.
