Rob Cosman's Wood-Hinge Rod Kit: Combination
One of the keys to successfully making my wood-hinge box is using a hard enough rod for the hinge axle that will not deform when you cut it. Our rods come in two diameters: 1/16 inch and 1/8 inch.
1/16 inch diameter rods are typically used with the 1/4 inch and 3/8 inch dowels. 1/8 inch diameter rods are typically used for 1/2 inch and 3/4 inch dowels.
Our rod kits come in three different configurations:
1/8 inch Rod Kit: 3 x 6 inch segments of 1/8 inch diameter rod
1/16 inch Rod Kit: 6 x 6 inch segments of 1/16 inch diameter rod
Combination Rod Kit: 2 x 6 inch segments of 1/8 inch diameter rod and 4 x 6 inch segments of 1/16 inch diameter rod
Great product, couldn't source a good metal rod so of course I was happy to support Rob Cosman and his team as they support me with their wonderful videos and products.
In process, just finished my first hinge....no problems. Thanks, Rob! I enjoy your Pod casts, the content has been very beneficial for my wood working skills!
I wanted to try wood hinges for my boxes but couldnt get consistent centering with drill press===The kit and the videos solved my problems. It is really a precision tool. Rob is a superb teacher (I taught for 30 years). I am now working thru the Youtube offerings
Absolutely the best method for drilling a centered hole in a dowel
