Do you find that using your vintage Stanley or Record plane's adjusting knob is a bit difficult? Well we did and decided to fix that by creating our Plane AdjuSTAR adjusting knob to replace the original adjusting knob on MOST (read below) vintage Stanley and Record Planes.

The AdjuSTAR'S star design makes it easy for you to reach in and turn the adjuster with your fingers.  The star design also makes reaching your frog adjustment screws with a screwdriver much easier.

IMPORTANT.  WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THAT OUR ADUSTAR WILL FIT EVERY VINTAGE LEFT HAND THREADED STANLEY OR RECORD PLANE.  (Please read the below paragraph "Won't work on Some Stanley and Record Planes"). To compensate our customers for the possibility that our AdjuSTAR may not fit your vintage plane, we price our vintage Stanley and Record AdjuSTARS substantially lower than our AdjuSTARS for modern planes.   ALL SALES OF VINTAGE STANLEY & RECORD ADJUSTARS ARE FINAL - NO RETURNS.

Left Hand Threaded. All of our AdjuSTARS are threaded with LEFT HAND threads, which fit the vast majority of vintage planes; however, Stanley and Record did make right hand threaded planes, which our AdjuSTARS WILL NOT fit on.  You can tell if your vintage plane has a left hand thread if you remove your adjuster knob and then reinstall it.  If it threads on when turning in a counterclockwise motion you have a left hand threaded plane.

AdjuSTAR Wont Work on Some Stanley and Record Planes.  Stanley and Record made tens of thousands of planes at numerous factories in many countries. The standards of production varies between planes depending on when and where they were manufactured.  In particular, the threads on the adjusting knob rods are quite coarse and sloppy and have a lot of variability.  We have tested our AdjuSTAR on hundreds of Stanley and Record planes and they fit about 90% of left hand threaded Stanley and Record vintage planes.  However, we do find a few left hand threaded Stanley and Record plane threaded rods that our AdjuSTARS just won't fit.

DETAILS:

  • Does not fit any vintage Stanley or Record RIGHT HAND threaded planes, nor any Stanley or Record left hand threaded bench planes numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 4-1/2 or 5-1/4.
  • Does not fit the new Stanley Sweetheart line of planes.
  • Diameter: 1-7/8 inch outside diameter.

An AdjuSTAR is Born

Well with this order all of my planes have either an adjuSTAR or mini-adjuSTAR. Incredible does not even begin to describe the control, ease and efficiency of this! JUST GET THEM!

Amazing idea

It’s the best improvement for an old plane, specially for old guys like myself, when our fingers don’t work like they use to. I bought 2, one for my jack and another for my # 3, I’ll be buying probably 3 more for my 7 & 8 & my other jack.

Really good addition, 2/3 success rate

These fit 2/3 of my vintage planes (as advertised). Where they fit they're a big benefit. I believe the plane it didn't fit was a later era Stanley corrugated number 5, probably 1950s/60s.
