Do you find that using your plane's adjusting knob is a bit difficult? Well we did and decided to fix that by creating our Plane AdjuSTAR 2.0 adjusting knob to replace the original adjusting knob on most Lie Nielsen bench planes.
Our Plane AdjuSTAR 2.0 is larger and much easier to use than the original adjusting knob allowing you to make adjustments to your blade depth setting easily. Our star design makes it easier for you to reach and turn the adjuster with your fingers and easier for you to reach the frog adjustment screw with a screwdriver. We know you will love our Plane AdjuSTAR 2.0.
DETAILS:
- Made of forged brass.
- Designed to fit the Lie Nielsen brand bench planes numbers 4-1/2, 5, 5-1/2, 6, 7, and 8. Requires removal of handle to install (see installation video).
- WIll Not Fit the Lie Nielsen bench planes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5-1/4, 10-1/4, 62, 164, 51 or other LN planes.
- Diameter: 1-7/8 inch outside diameter.
I put them on my Lie-Nielson 4 1/2, 5 1/2, and 7. Instantly enables you to flick out the “play” between retracting and advancing the blade, while also enabling more precise blade movement (muscle memory kicks in and you know how much to advance or retract based on shaving width; never had that kick in the with the round knobs). They are such a nice addition. Super easy install. Highly recommended.
Excellent accessory for the Lie Nielsen plane.
Great knob for adjusting your blade. The casting was a little proud and bound a bit on the casting for the front of the tote. Just a few turns before it totally cleared the casting on the tote.
I recently upgraded my favorite 5 1/2 Lie-Nielsen hand plane with the AdjuSTAR 2.0 and the Hex bolt hardware. This was an outstanding improvement, I don't even have to look to adjust the blade depth now and it's a lot smoother than before with that tiny knob on a large hand plane. I plan to order another AdjuSTAR for my 10 1/4 Lie-Nielsen to improve functionality.
The AdjuSTAR 2.0 is one of the best upgrades you can make to improve your Lie-Nielsen hand planes (and other brands, too)! It makes adjusting and using your plane faster and easier. I couldn't be more pleased, and now I have them on my Nos. 4-1/2, 5-1/2, and 7 planes. I just received a new No. 10-1/4, so I'll also add an AdjuSTAR Mini to it. I also recommend Rob's hex socket replacement screws - they make plane frog adjustments much easier, especially when combined with the AdjuSTAR.
