Rob Cosman's Dovetail Marking Knife Replacement Blades
Replacement blades for Rob's Dovetail marking knife.
The straight blade is designed for tracing tails onto the pin-board using traditional marking techniques.
Radius tip “track’s” in the end grain.
Wide at the blade tip for better registration against the tail.
Designed specifically for use with my dovetail transfer technique.
Made of the same blade material as my dovetail saw.
Allows you to "saw" a starting kerf in the pin-board.
I was very happy with the marking knife as I can finally make consistent dovetails. Thanks so much Rob for developing this tool and way of making dovetails. Lyle
Jake, I don’t want to rate. The saw was find bit useless with my LV dovetail saw or Japanese pull saw.
Since it has two bevels and a wide registration face the non saw blade leaves a clear indentation to track the saw blade and leaves a beautiful fit
I’ll start by saying that I’m no stranger to this medium ( cabinet/furniture maker for 42 years). I usually cut my dovetails on the bandsaw, very similar to the way Michael Fortune from FWW does it. The reason I ordered Robs marking knife is I had job to do that was too big for my saw, but thanks to the dismantling of the US post Office it took way to long to get ,even after paying extra to expedite shipping even though Rob warned us there will be delays.( I never claimed to be the sharpest chisel in the toolbox). So l couldn’t wait and did it the old school way. With all that said, I think Robs method is genius and l am 100% positive that it will work like a charm. So I’m looking forward to the next project that requires DTs. I’d also like to thank Rob for his work with the Veterans, it’s nice to know someone appreciates us. I’m an army veteran from the Vietnam era. Sorry for rambling Keep up the good work Scott Bates
