Rob Cosman’s 1-inch Brass Bench Dogs are designed to fit 1-inch (25.4 mm) round dog holes in a workbench top. Sold in pairs, each bench dog is 6 inches (152mm) long and made from premium brass.

Each bench dog has a 2-degree inward-sloping primary face, measuring 2 inches (51 mm) long. As the clamp is tightened, this face applies downward pressure to the workpiece. A smaller, 1/2-inch (13mm) long, 4-degree inward-sloping secondary face is milled on the opposite side of the dog.  This secondary face helps when the gap between the dogs is slightly too wide.  Simply rotate one or both dogs to the secondary face reducing the spacing without having to move the bench dog to a new hole.

Each dog has a durable spring-steel tension wire that provides enough friction to hold the dog securely in the hole while allowing for easy repositioning and removal. One dog has the spring on it's left side and the other on it's right side. With thsi configeration both dogs can be oriented with the springs facing away from the user.

The Rolls Royce of bench dogs

Ordered these up for my Sjobergs bench. Perfect fit, quality of construction is outstanding. While I was originally skeptical of just how much use the small secondary notch would get, I literally used it during the maiden voyage, and now I'm not sure why all dogs aren't made this way.
