The Workbench is the most important tool for the hand tool woodworker, but until now a quality workbench was either too expensive to buy or too complicated to build.  Rob solved both of these problems with The Cosman Workbench.  While creating a quality workbench for professionals and beginners alike, he minimized the cost and skill to build his workbench.  Made out of readily available materials,  Rob's workbench has no difficult joinery and can be built in a weekend.  Watch alongside Rob and Luther as they show you, step by step, in real time, mistakes and all, how to build The Cosman Workbench.

    Workbench video

Very good video! Very detailed. It will make the process go smoothly when I build the bench this fall. Money well spent. It is like being in the shop, real time, as they build the bench. Also, It was really cool to get a personal phone call from Rob a day or two after I made the purchase. Thanks, Rob. Nice to meet you over the phone. I am looking forward to soon be working on a real woodworking bench that is not cost prohibitive. WELL DONE !

Nicely Organized Content - Definitely Worth It

Rob gives a very detailed description of the build process and all the attention to detail that you’ve come to know and love about him to get the most accuracy throughout this build. I watched the video a few times and started with a crosscut sled build this past weekend. Next will be the legs and stretchers when I get the sled finished. I’m modifying the design a bit to add a bolt-on oak tail vise I’ll make before starting the MDF table. I already have the 1 3/16” x 18” screw and want to use that. Plans seem very adaptable for this kind of mod. He talks about the crosscut sled and he said in the video he didn’t have one large enough for the table so I made mine large enough for a 22” panel. Also, looked up the 5 cut process Luther talks about to get it crazy accurate.

    Tool List

First off, I love everything Rob Cosman, so this is not a dig in any way. I really wanted to build this bench and ordered the plans with that intention. Once I started watching the videos I realized I had a serious lack of tools to complete the build. It would help a lot if there was a required tool list mentioned BEFORE making the purchase. The amount of extra tools I'd need far outweigh the cost savings of such a bench.

    Outstanding Workbench plans!

The overall concept and design is excellent. The video is extremely helpful. Bench can be easily customized if one desired. Customer service is also top tier. Highly recommended.

I was working on it in the garage when the pizza delivery guy came to deliver my pizza. He said "Wow thats an awesome bench! Do you do custom orders for those?" I give 95% credit to Rob for that one.
