I bought these knobs to install on my newly arrived Moxon vise. I've never used this vise before but I realized the vise handwheel action would be slow and cumbersome without them.
Very easy to install, although I did have to purchase a #7 drill and 1/4-20 tap set at the hardware store. Drilling cast iron is easy on bits so it was very quick and easy to get that end ready. This could probably even be done with no more than a drill, corded or cordless, but I've always had a drill press so that's the way to go for me, and best for accuracy. If you get these for your Moxon, don't be tempted to tap the hole with a drill though - always go slow and easy using a tap handle, backing out frequently. Probably no more than a 15-20 minute job to include marking your locations and punching a center starter. I can;t be more pleased with these knobs. An essential addition to the vise wheels.
As an side, I also ordered Cosman's springs and Oilite bushings. Like the Vise wheel knobs, I found the springs to be essential to proper vise action, otherwise I'd have to manually open the jaws. The springs push them open as you crank the handwheels back, at least for the first few inches. As the springs fully expand, the last inch or so become a manual operation. Good stuff.
