Our Hand Plane Shooting Grip, known as "The Grip," easily mounts to the side of most bevel down Jack (#5, #5-1/2, or #6) or Jointer (#7 or #8) planes. The shape of "The Grip" has been painstakingly shaped to conform to the crotch of your hand giving you next level control on your bench plane when using it on the shooting board.

We have designed "The Grip" for easy mounting and our instructional videos takes you step-by step through the mounting process using either a drill press or a power hand drill. Use your own 1/8 inch, 1/4 inch , and chamfering drill bits or purchase our inexpensive drill bit kit.

Easily slips on and off your plane in seconds. Prevents blisters and rubbing your hand raw when shooting with a bench plane. You will love it - we actually guarantee it!

Made from cast aluminum.
Fits most bevel down Jack (#5, #5-1/2, #6) and jointer (#7, #8) bench planes.
Requires a 1/4 inch mounting hole to be drilled 3/16 inch deep in the side of your plane. Easy instructional videos in the picture gallery.
Comes in left or right handed versions.

Shooting has never felt that comfortable. It used to give me blisters! This is probably the best modification / improvement I purchased for my hand plane.

5 1/2 Hand Plane with Custom Grip

Absolutely a beautiful plane, flat square and true. All edges are smoothed. The iron has a beautiful edge and the custom grip makes it extremely comfortable to use as a shooting plane. Packing was exceptional and communications were superb. I have used the plane extensively since receiving it and I feel that it is an exceptional piece of equipment.

Excellent addition to my plane

This tool was a brillant idea for saving your hand and gaining control when using your shooting board. It was easily installed and makes using your shooting board much easier. The design and quality is well worth the cost even if you are tightly contolling your budget.

Great tool

The shooting grip arrived quickly and well packaged. I spent some time fumbling around for directions (none in the package), but should have paid attention on this site! My only gripe is that the magnet fell out before I could even install the grip, however, a little epoxy solved that.
